Hello family, this week has been a busy and exciting
one!
Monday
We had p-day like normal and it was super fun we played
sports in our chapel all day. Wrote our families and it was great. One thing that was cool was that we had a
lesson with a progressing investigator. It was so fun, we watched a church
videos on addiction recovery. Our
investigator has a drug problem like half of our investigators. If you haven’t
seen the videos I would encourage everyone to watch them, even if they don’t
have addiction or problems. I would advise all to see the 12 steps if not
just to strengthen your bond to the plan of salvation. It was great and he
decided he really did want to quit and
so we started to make goals for baptism to quit his drugs and leave it the bad behind
him. It was a super neat day!
Tuesday
We had a great day in the morning, we had a another baptismal
goal set and it was with a woman that is in a wheel chair. She asked us when she could be baptized in
the middle of our lesson. Normally they don’t ask us, so we were very pleasantly
surprised! haha
She also has a smoking problem but luckily it is just
tobacco and not another harder drug. We are working with her to quit. Later
that night we had a young men activity and we brought our young investigator to
play football and eat hotdogs at the church and it was super great!
Wednesday
We had a long day of visiting less active and inviting them
all to come to the general conference. We were walking fast and furious to all different
sides of our area trying invite them all in one day. We spent the rest of the
week trying to meet with contacts and new investigators
Thursday
We did service by visited old members in our ward to see
what help they needed. They put us to work and that kept us occupied
all day. Then we had ward counsel in the
night. It was so nice to be able to
share with the ward all the exciting things we were doing. We ask for their
help with helping our investigators get rides to church. The investigators that are really want to go
to church are past the age of going places on their own and need rides. So, we
are trying to focus on some young investigators. We are working in town that is
an old folks home, the ward is just a parking lot for walkers. It’s pretty funny to see so many in one place
at one time!
Friday
I taught an English lesson to a recent convert and her son isn’t of our faith. He wanted to practice his English that he is studying. Conveniently, I only had the restoration pamphlet in English. haha
I really planed that and so he would read it, then tell me what he read. So it was a little sneaky, then we talked about it in Spanish. Fantastic… haha

Saturday
We were in the other area all day for conference and it starts
at weird times heard because of the delay, so the am session was at one in the
after noon and the pm session started at 6 and the priesthood was at
10 at night. So we had to wait and watched that session in
the morning because we have to be at home at 9. They were both so great. I took
so many notes and I wished I could just force all our investigators to watch it
because they had so many great inspiring talks!
Sunday
We slept in another elders home to be closer to watch the priesthood
session in the morning. It was so fun to
be with them all day! A great Conference week end. I cannot wait to get it in the ensign to read
all the talks. It makes me so
happy! I hope you all enjoyed the week
end!
Love you all,
Elder Vance
